Brand New Documentary No Body's Perfect Announced as Part of BBC Four's Modern Identity Season

In this 1 x 60’ arts documentary disabled artist Alison Lapper and internationally renowned photographer Rankin tackle contemporary attitudes to beauty and identity through the medium of photography. Alison and Rankin meet four fascinating people who don’t conform to traditional notions of beauty, or who hate being photographed, and invite them to step in front of Rankin’s camera.

Each person reveals their incredible life story and their own personal struggle with their sense of identity. Through hearing these stories and capturing them in Rankin’s studio, Alison and Rankin explore how the explosion of digital media over the past decade, including social media and the craze for selfies, presents new challenges to our self-image.

The show will transmit at 9:00pm on Thursday 10th November, on BBC Four.

The film was produced and directed by Ian Denyer, with Ben Weston as executive producer.

Previews for Penelope Keith: At Her Majesty’s Service

Pretty much a clean sweep of Pick of the Day for the launch programme of Penelope Keith At Her Majesty’s Service on 5th June. Comments for the show included the Daily Mail “An eye-opening exploration of history” and the Sunday Telegraph “Classic Sunday evening viewing”.

The series continues for the next three Sundays concluding on Sunday 26th June with the Wales episode.

Penelope Keith: At Her Majesty's Service - A new commission from Channel 4

Penelope meets the people who uphold extraordinary royal titles and appointments, from the Royal Falconer to the Washer of the Sovereign’s hands. It’s a world Penelope knows something about, having been at Her Majesty’s service herself, when she took up the position of High Sheriff for Surrey in 2002. Across the series Penelope heads to four corners of the union:

In England, she visits Windsor Castle, meets the Royal Herb Strewer and travels in style along the Thames, in the Royal row barge with the Queen’s Bargemaster by her side. In Scotland, Penelope drops in on The Palace of Holyroodhouse and meets the Duke of Argyll, at his family seat, Inveraray Castle. A trip to Wales sees Penelope retrace Prince Charles’ investiture at Caernarfon Castle and meet The Prince of Wales’ royal harpist. And finally, at Her Majesty’s official residence in Northern Ireland, Hillsborough Castle, Penelope celebrates the Queen’s 90th birthday with a royal gun salute.
